Feds formally cancel 2 of 3 dam proposals on Little Colorado River

At the request of the developer, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) formally canceled the Salt Trail Canyon and Little Colorado River hydroelectric dam proposals. The developer is still pursuing a third dam, the Big Canyon Dam, which would be about 6 miles upstream of the Confluence.

FERC has not yet approved the developer’s preliminary permit for the Big Canyon Dam. Please sign & share the Save The Confluence petition requesting a cancellation of this destructive project.

Proposed Black Mesa Pumped Storage Hydropower Projects

We recently learned of three new pumped storage hydropower projects proposed on Black Mesa by developer Nature and People First Arizona. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) comment period closed January 3rd, 2023 at 5pm.
